My Testimony
C. W. "Pat" Patrick

I was born in Beckley, West Virginia and when I was ten years old our family moved to Detroit, Michigan where my father had work in the automobile factories. Our family did not go to church. My first contact with a Christian influence was when I was fourteen years old and I attended a new church that was being started in a basement of a person's home. My reason for attending was that I was interested in knowing this person's daughter rather that giving my life to Jesus. Pastor Clark did take a special interest in my brothers and me and some other kids in the neighborhood. He involved us in sports and teenage functions in the surrounding churches. He presented the Gospel to me many times but I stubbornly refused to accept Jesus as my savior.

I dropped out of going to church after I received my driver's license and I had no interest in God. I married Linda in 1964 when I was 20 years old. Linda was a member of a church who would visit us regularly and witness to me. I refused them and lived like the devil. I became very involved in my career and work life. The next 24 years of my life I was living in the world. I was enjoying the things of the world doing almost every sin and evil thing known to man. I had become successful by the world's standards, but was lost and headed to hell.

In the summer of 1983 my world had started to crumble. I was drinking too much; my family was falling apart. In addition, my credibility and character was being attacked. I was so flat on my back that I could not see anywhere but up.
I asked Jesus to come into my heart and forgive me of my sins. I decided to surrender to Him and place my faith and trust in Him. Jesus did save me! I now have peace and know where I will spend eternity. Jesus changed my life! I was baptised. I joined the church and started living for Jesus. My marriage has been very good. I stopped drinking. My children have found spouses and their children and spouses have received Jesus Christ as their savior. The Lord has blessed me with two grandchildren (Maygen and Ashley), my health, my business and most of all my eternal salvation. I am definitely not perfect but Jesus Christ molds me day by day as I am surrendering to him as Lord and give him all the praise and glory and honor in my life.
